Gents,

I have just returned from the ACC All Ranks Weekend at Lakeside Resort, Hayling Island and bring back some disturbing news

The AGM of the Association was held on Sunday, 10th May at Lakeside, this went on for almost 2 hours due to the Chairman, Colonel Phillipe Rossiter bringing the meeting up to speed with the future of the ACC Memorial Hall.  The Chairman has been involved in meetings over the future of the Hall over the past 18 months or so.

Col Phillipe had been informed on Friday the 8th May that the GOC after much deliberation had taken the decision to hand over the Hall for use as a Gurkha Temple!  This decision has not yet been ratified by MOD!

It would appear also that the Gurkha's would be carrying out religious ceremonies in the grounds of the Memorial Hall which will see the slaughtering of animals...from a Christian War Memorial Hall to a slaughterhouse by the GOC's consent

In my personal opinion this is a political decision by the GOC in light of the recent bad publicity the Government has received over the status of the Gurkhas in Britain.  The GOC has taken the easy option by not upsetting his political masters, however, it would appear that this whole exercise has not been thought out with any budgetary considerations i.e. The cost to re-locate the Central Library who currently occupy the Hall or the dismantling of our Shrine and finding a home for our memorabilia, some of which is stored in the Hall ...this is a move that will not come cheaply at all.

My view is that this is our fight and it is not over until it is over unless we as a Corp want to throw in the towel!  You can be assured that centrally this is not the case and the Chairman will be taking the matter further with Gerald Howarth, the MP for Aldershot who has already offered us support.

The Central Library has until April 2010 to re-locate, those of you interested in keeping the pressure on can start to "Up The Ante!"  I will be contacting newspaper Editors over the next week to see if they will support us and I will be writing to the GOC 4 Division (Aldershot).  I'll try and be gentle with him!

I and the ACC Association welcome all the support that we can muster on this one.

Do you recognise these Pubs from around the Aldershot area

Can you put these up on the web site and see how many people can name what they used to be. Most of the buildings are the same but one has undergone a definite transformation. I will publish the list in a couple of weeks time. Perhaps we can get a few memories stirring of the times members visited some of these places, if indeed they dared to enter a few.
I will also send some more photo's of how work is progressing at St Omer, the Mess has gone now and the Depot accommodation and Group Catering.

This is the unofficial web site of the Army catering Corps. This site came about because I was looking for some old comrades and found only one site that really was any help, all the other sites wanted money out of me, so I thought why not go ahead and make my own site.

I am proud to have served in the Army Catering Corps the training and experience I gained have stood me in good stead So much so that now I run a large Catering and Hotel company. It also occurred to me that there is a wealth of catering experience floating around out there with no proper forum to meet and discuss. So from this idea this site grew.

The site is for you please feel free to contribute or suggest new ideas. If you have experience with web design or writing and want to help please email me. I look back with fondness at my time in the Corps even working in the field, by the way did anyone ever find a way to keep clean when using a burner?

It would be great if you could submit your photos, anything Catering Corps related, I would like to hear your tales and stories where did you serve? are you looking for an old friend? I hope this will be the site where you will find them. I will publish all suitable material on the site.

Its a shame that a great Corps like ours was, does not have an official web site where Members and friends can meet up chat and talk about old times, that's why I started this site I don't want the Corps to just fade silently away. So come on you lot this is your site use it lets build a community online talk over old time's make new friends and share a laugh or two.
