alfred scarfe?

My name is Andrew Scarfe. I was wondering anyone could help me at all?
my father (as far as i know)served with the A.C.C in 1946ish
I was hoping to learn more about his army days and what he did and where he served, I do remember little bits he told me but unfortunatly i was to young to really appreciate what he was telling me, now i am older i am very intrested in what he did but again unfortunatly my father died in 1988,
I would apprecate anything you could tell me about him or put me on the right track so i can trace anything about him or his past,
As i said my mermories are sketchy i know he served in the ACC and also later served with the TA (Leeds rifles based in Castleford west yorkshire).
I have an old suitcase he used on his travels with some writing wich says:
23921586
Cpl Scarfe .A. (A.C.C)
E coy 1st yorks
EX BARI
Cyprus
Again i do not know if this if from his ACC days or from his TA days.
His full name was: Alfred scarfe
Anything you could help me with would be very apreciated.
thanking you in anticipation
Andrew Scarfe

Thank you Ian,
My mother tells me my father joined the TA about 1962 so this would be about the right time scale.
I was not sure if he had kept his army number from his tour of Palestine in 1946 this is now looking very doubtful
but thank you very much for your help
