John's comments in the General Section reminded me of the winter of 62/63 which for those of you that are old enough will remember!
During that winter they put braziers in all the spider ablutions...........our first taste of field cooking was learnt here by filching the odd sausage, bacon and egg and cooking it in our mess tins over the brazier. All went well until the night the orderly officer came round unexpectedly! You've never seen so many mess tins fly through the window as he appeared around the corner. From that day on we were patted down as we left the training kitchen. Oh Happy Days
