On 8th November aged 88 – General Sir Patrick Howard-Dobson GCB, ACC Representative Colonel Commandant from Nov 76 to Nov 81. A great friend of the Corps he always gave great support and was well respected by our soldiers for his friendly and compassionate nature during unit visits. A great sportsman, he enjoyed sailing, cricket and golf with the Corps.

Funeral at St John The Baptist Church Snape, Suffolk at 1400 hrs on Tue 24th November. The Corps will be represented by Col Barnett and Lt Col Monk. There will be a Memorial Service to be arranged at a later date.

1979-81 Appointed a Full General and Vice Chief of Defence Staff, Personnel and Logistics – it wasn’t the Army’s “turn” to hold the highest rank in the Armed Forces, otherwise he might well have been Chief of
Defence staff and a Field Marshal to-boot!
Appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath (GCB) in 1979.
From 1978-81 he also held the honorary post of Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty the Queen.
Honorary Colonel of the Army Catering Corps and inducted to the Worshipful Company of Cooks. Becomes
a Freeman of the City of London
