This Guy is looking for help in researching a book.

Can you help?

“ I am writing a book to provide a close study of the military operations carried out during the Cyprus Emergency from 1955 to 1960.

The author is Stephen Jones at:  milresearch@ssjones.co.uk

The book is to called  ‘ British Military Operations of the Cyprus Emergency 1955-1960.’

The book is to fill the gap caused by there being no official account of these operations.

I am keen to hear about the detail of ACC activity:
a. methods used in Cyprus to keep units rationed by ACC
b. methods used for ACC  to feed the security forces both in camp and out in the field
c. descriptions of specialist cooking kit  eg  the No1 Hydroburner
d.how perishable rations – if used -  were kept fresh in spring, summer
e.what arrangements for milk and eggs resupply if fresh milk was being used in camp
f.electricity supply for fridges  -  what standby if Cypriots cut the supply?
g. Who got hold of fridges in first place?!
h. Control of insects;
i. swill disposal ? - because no unit pig farms as in peacetime stations.
j. Government House, Senior Officer catering in their accommodation  -  who cooked for Harding ,Gen Kendrew or Gen Keightley and Co ?
k. Who cooked in the BMH Nicosia ?
l. Lastly, can direct enemy contacts  be recalled ?  It’s been mentioned that ACC att the para battalions sometimes went out on ambushes, patrolling if bn men were short-handed  .”

I do look forward to hearing from some of the old hands who were in Cyprus 55 to 60  !

Yours sincerely,

Stephen Jones
