You never thought you’d see it;
well the time has finally come
that will gladden the hearts of many
and leave many more just numb.
That iconic sixties structure
that towers over Aldershot Town
has finally passed it sell by date
and will shortly be knocked down.
It won’t be an easy task you know,
for the demolition crew,
‘cos the walls are full of roaches
and the girders full of stew.
They called it Sindall’s Folly
but I really don’t know why;
of course there were some problems
building kitchens in the sky.
But for many, many years
It was the cathedral of our Corps,
but times they are a changing
and soon it’ll be no more.
Our future’s in our new home,
in an even posher town,
just outside of Winchester
in a place called Worthy Down.
The School will be much smaller
but with a vision clear and bold,
to remain a centre of excellence,
whilst preserving values old.
Our modern soldier chefs, you know,
still are trained to be the very best,
they still work hard from dawn to dusk
yet have more medals on their chest.
They know where they have come from
and they know what they must be:
Sustainers of the Warfighter
proud soldiers of the RLC.
