42 Sqd B Coy 1971 - 1973
Terry Checketts is me, just found this site and joined.

first posting was to 2nd Btln Royal Irish Rangers, in Warminster, then seconded to Netheravon to School of Infantry, where it ran Mon to Fri.

At week-ends we`d only have about 20-30 staying in camp, unless any "Guests" stayed over night from local villages.... cough cough!  Regt then posted to Germany in Iserlohn in `74

Re-posted to 24 R.E. Kitchener Barracks, Chatham. couldn't get out of there unless i Re-signed for another 3, so bought myself out in `79
Tried hotel work, didnt like the hours, so went into........ Nursing

Now living in Cardiff for last 2 years.

Give me a shout if anyone from  those training days remember me..

p.s  Have found Myer "Budgie" Attrill on Face book

cheers Terry Checketts

Hi I was there in 76 in the block at the bottem next to the sgt mess, my Lt was a guy called Otterbarn Busty Miller was SgtMaj o'REILLY was CO

i was in that block as well, top floor in 76 ( 13 squad I think). I also remeber the drill corporals Milford and Eatock. When we looked out of our window the sgts mess was immediatly to the back and the entrance was next to it.

I was at St Omer in May 1978 (10 Coy) billeted in the block facing the NAAFI. The only name that spring to mind is Tony Pike (from the I of W). I can honestly say the at my first day at St Omer was the start of the best 12 years of my life.

I returned in 1988 posted to Group Catering for my last two years.

Both visits were full of good memories.

Re MACS. I bought my Mum a copy back in 1988 but I can't pry her fingers of it. I do, however, have an electronic copy if any one wants one.
