I was at St Omer In O&P squad 68-70.
Then Posted to Inglis Bks, RE (Postal) in 70. I've seen a post from Dave Thomson mentioning Dave Guest. I'm looking for Kieth (Reg) Varney. All 4 of us were there at this time. Anyone else out there?
In late 72 I was posted to Chelsea Bks with the 2nd Bat Coldstream Guards. The first ACC cook they had. Did tours of duty in NI, UAE and Cyprus in 74(Holiday ruined by the Turkish invasion)!!!! Looking for Barry Hollaway and anyone else.
Left the army in Nov 74 after my ex left me with my daughter Samantha.

They ruined my Holiday in Cyprus as well, I was kicked out of RAF Akateri (Spelling?) and into a Sh*t hole called French camp. We stayed there for about 6 weeks till it all calmed down.

I was with the UN at Limosol when it all kicked off. The Coldstream Guards hadn't quite got hold of the plot that cooks cook and infantrymen play at the sharp end. Both in NI and Cyprus after I had done my shift in the kitchen I and other cooks had to go out on patrol. Ended up in Farmagusta rescuing holiday makers while the Turks were bombing it!! Finished up in the middle of knowhere with the Turks one mile in front of us and the Greeks dug in behind. The last place we went through before ending up in 'knowhere' was Polis.

John,
I don't know if you will read this as you haven't logged on for a while. Do You remember Dave Gairns. I completed my 22. I live in the Glasgow area. I'll look in periodically to see if you get this. Did you hear from anyone else in O & P Squad? I lived next door to Roy Gernon for a while in Aldershot. He was an instructor. Vince Casey was WO1 in Scotland.
Get in touch.

;D ;D ;D And I went in in January 75 to Anzio Camp, Dhekelia to pick up the pieces!!!!

I was stationed in Cyprus for six months or so, in the early 70’s at Polamedia Camp, Limassol along with 2 Para i hope I’ve spelt it right
I remember there used to be a lot of wild cats roaming the camp and they sometimes broke into the kitchen looking for food
When it rained it sounded like a hundred drums beating at once, as the huts/rooms had tin roofs
Great days
Michael
Ps
I still have my old U.N uniform tucked away some were in the attic
