Title: FALKLANDS CAMPAIGN
Post by: manxie on November 30, 2005, 03:05:23 AM: I would like to hear from anyone who served with the ACC and served "down South" during the conflict. I have been offered a South Atlantic medal to a guy in the ACC and sobody might know the chap? My brother, Graeham Quilliam, served with the Corps just after the conflict and served till the early nineties. Anyone have any stories or knew him?

We were unfortunate to lose 4 excellent chefs on board the RFA Sir Galahad, LCpl Taff Jones, Pte Rick Middlewick and two lads that were attached to the battalion from the Guards Depot, Cpl Barry Bullers and Pte Alfie Connet.

They will always be remembered.

Did you ever come across a guy called Nigel "bing" crosby? I belive he served with the paras out there,I know this as he served with me at 4 ADSR Herford

Just wondered whether the Taff Jones refers to a lad who was with me in training, during 1976 at St Omer. I believe he had transferred to the ACC.

we had a lad posted to us at JLR RA who I believe was att to WG during the conflict....I recall his name as John Behan (?) or something similar.

Taff Jones was in Burma Platoon, B Company, 4/76 intake

John Behan was with me with the Welsh Guards, we used to go and watch Spurs on a Saturday when I couldn't get to see Leeds

I was attached to the medics at Ajax Bay (Blue and Green Life Manchine)during Corporate. I went south on either the MV Nordic or Baltic. It was a bright orange ferry, and had detachments from the 16 PFA, REME, RA , Welsh Guards, Air Corps to mention a few. I went with the medics to Goose Green (after the cease fire) and eventually was moved to Stanley where I was based at the Hospital. ( I was back in 84 with the Royal Scots when the hospital burned to the ground). It was a bit of a mind trip coming back to the UK on the SS Uganda but made bareable by the presence of the 7GR pipe band.
I have always been bad with remebering names, but if anyone remebers me, Gavin (Jock) Murdoch it would be grand hearing from old mates. X & Y squad 72 -74, 1 RGJ 74 - 80, 20 Sqn Rct 80 - 83 and Royal Scots from 83 -86.

are you sure taff was 4/76 and not 4/77 i was in burma pl 4/77

Bing was 1/79 intake in A coy, he was App Sgt when i joined ,thats if its the same bloke, he was a good laugh though.

we spent a full 6 months on the island in various site all over. Tough times was had by all. If anyone has herd of Andy and wilf. it would be good to get in touch.
