I remember when I joined JTR way back in 1962 that Pete was a Cpl in the gym and responsible for my daily torture! Over the years I got to know him as always a mild mannered and quiet man.
Nothing ever seemed to phase him.
So sad that someone who was as fit and sharp as Pete has sucombed to Parkinsons.
RIP Pete.

My sincere condolences to Pete's family. I joined JTR in Jan 1964 and Pete was my first platoon sergeant, I agree with Ian, he was a mild mannered and fair man who along with Daddy Pat etc gave us all a sound basis to go on with our army careers. RIP Pete.

I remember Pete Lines. He was my Platoon Sgt in Venning platoon. Half way through my training he was promoted to S/Sgt and went into the stores. I was one of those fitness fanatic cooks and Pete used to take me and about 5-6 others on early morning runs (up to 15 miles!!) carrying a log. He was on a bycicle. A really good guy. Someone I never forgot. My heartfelt sympathies to all his family and friends.

Pete was our platoon Sgt 67 to 69. A real gentleman and the type of leader you would follow anywhere, which we did on many occaisions in the early mornings on Ten Tors training,(and when I knew him he ran along with us not on a bike). R.I.P. Pete, may heaven look like Dartmoor.

Dave, I was in training the same time as you and I also did Ten Tors in 69 (i think). I was in Venning platoon O&P squad.
