Army Catering Corps

Hi my name is Cairn,
My great grandfather was a Major in the Army Catering Corps. His name was Maj. Harold Robert Dearnley.
I know he was a Lance Corporal and became a 2nd Lt. on 27th March 1940, and then through an emergency commision became a Capt. during World War 2, and this later became a short service commision as Capt during 1945 and later Major in 1955.
He later retired in 1957 and retained the rank of Major.
I am very interested in my families military history, and wondered if anyone here might have known, or heard of my great grandfather before.
