Joined 1976 regulars. I left in 1977 but there were some great characters.
Eddie Middle, Reg Hill (great bloke) and those days were brilliant.
They used to chuck our bins and kit out of the window on inspections , but it was all good fun. Changing parades, beastings, Reg Hill screaming in our ears.
I remember the Boys' getting beasted going up onto the Square, hats getting thrown around, and Dusty Miller scaring the crap out of everybody. He had an office, later, over the Armoury, where he could scream at us all going to scran.
But all the permanent staff during '76 on the "Degs" side were alright.
Eddie Middle must be one of the archetypal soldiers and drill instructors.
His fond words..."You f***ing doughboy" springs to mind. Great characters and soldiers, anyone else got memories of these characters?
Last saw Eddie Middle smoking his pipe in his Office when he became RQMS, and heard he went onto Taxi driving in Aldershot.
